Horta is a tribute to the 1969 Star Trek episode "the devil in the dark". In the episode, Spock succeeds in establishing a Vulcan mind blend with a Horta, a rock-like creature. He does so through touch. We believe that the future of music listening is inside the body and build our objects accordingly with powerful subwoofers or other kind of sound transductors within. We organize "body concerts" in Italy where DJs compose for bodies of those who sit on our furniture or conduct inner sound massages (see images). We would like to do the same at LICC. Horta can be used either as a body listening device while you sit comfortably on it, or as a normal sound machine which can be placed anywhere around the house instead of a hideous stereo. In the images you will see we also placed a "Chladni" water image generator next to the Horta, so that you can see what goes on in your body as you perceive it while sitting. The DJ in one picture uses it to modulate his one on one performance with a visitor. www.kilohertz.it
