About the Artist:

Born in Canada and raised in Singapore, Brian has worked in the design profession for close to 20 years, beginning with freelance and agency work in Canada to starting and running his own award winning studio in Hong Kong. He has trained under renowned Asian artists such as Liu Kang and Kam Kee Yong of Singapore as well as at the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts. He has a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts from the University of Toronto and Masters of Arts in Design from the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He is also a professional member of the Society of Graphic Designers of Canada, the Hong Kong Designers Association and the Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong. Because of his diverse background, Brian has developed a cross-cultural sensibility in his art and design work. This cross-cultural philosophy has resulted in design work for clients that is equally workable in both local and global arenas and it is this philosophy that Brian inculcates in all the designers of his design team. Brian is also a passionate musician having played in numerous bands and recorded several CDs. His interest in music has led to work in sound-tracking and animation as well as other time-based media. This experience in other media has also proved an asset in his design work as it has allowed him to explore design options outside of the obvious and to see design systems across multiple media. A third area of Brian's design experience has been in education. He has taught design at various levels at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University, the IVE-UCE degree program and the Art School. Teaching has allowed him to keep in touch with the youthful aspect of design, to have a first hand look at designers of the future and to be a part of that future.
