Here and Never, 36 x 32", oil on canvas. This painting is part of a group of paintings begun the end of last year that derive from some automatic drawings, sketches and scribblings that I began to recognize as having a pre-Columbian and Asian motif. And particularly in this painting a resemblance to da Vinci's drawings of nature and as I recall, his drawing of water in eddies. Of the group of paintings this is the darkest, brooding, contrary, scraped back and left.
