Laokoon Metamorphosis

When I was making rickrack-inspired ribbons from plastic materials and wove I realized that the weft rows - thanks to the wavy shape of the ribbons - could slide on one another! The woven structure inspired by fish scales or reptile skin allows the created plane square piece of material to take the shape that the users want (round, spherical, fan-like forms, etc.) and keep this shape until one decides to modify it. This material is ideal for making objects of unique, organic, three dimensional and transformable shapes. These characteristics allow us to create three dimensional shapes without tailoring and therefore, it can be used as a coating of any kind of objects, as shading systems for separating rooms or to design opening and closing articles. Thanks to the fine surface geometry and our special linking technique, it can fit tight the shapes of the human body, furthermore, it moves with its wearer. Thus, it is very convenient for clothing-insertions or accessories. On the pictures, you can see some of the shapes you can create with Laokoon © innovative material, but the possibilities are infinite.
